Day 3 in Bali went as according to plans. It was meant to be relaxing, lazy and stress-free. We walked around Ubut, shopping along the streets, and of course with me taking photographs along the way. My wife managed to get some jam and herbal salt from a shop, which strangely enough, she bought some jam too during our last New Zealand trip… hmm… jam-holic?

Green Field Bungalows

A lot of times, local children prove to be one of the best photographic subjects. One little girl was standing outside one of the shops, singing some English pop song which I did not recognize (yeah my knowledge of pop songs suck big time, I know!). After I took her photo, she kept saying, “hullo!” to me. Cute! The monkeys in Ubud on the other hand, although quite a hit with tourists, are a little bit too bold for me. They are bold enough to snatch any shiny objects from you if you are not careful, and they walk the streets like they own the place. They eat human junk food too, and I caught one just greedily munching away on a pack of fish balls. Pffttt… monkeys eating fish… I guess they get sick of bananas too.

Dirty Duck and a Kid

Within walking distance of our lodging is one of the famous local restaurants called Bebek Bengil – dirty duck dinner, serving its specialty of bony fried duck delicacies. It is either the way they fried the ducks or that the ducks in Indonesia are really under-nourished, because I find the bebeks in general to have little meat. But somehow, these dirty ducks are delicious! Enak! I ordered a plate of my favorite vegetarian local food, Gado Gado, which is a mixture of various vegetables, topped with peanut sauce. That was fabulous too!

Ubud

A quick laze under the sun by the swimming pool, some snooping around for some photos, and dinner at a cheap local restaurant completed the day. We rested early to prepare for the last day of our Bali trip, which will include lots of sightseeing like real tourists do… zzz…

One Response to “Bali (Day Three)”

Oh, I like that little girl picture too.

Hey, that picture of the monkey … looks familiar. Guess they all look the same whether they are from the Safari or Bali eh?

    Ha ha ha.
