Sigh… I really gotta try to keep up with my blog entries
Here are some images I took from the preview of Chingay 2008, 15-Feb-2008. I do not recall watching a Chingay Parade live, at least not since my childhood days. Most of the past years, I have largely ignored the occasion, usually spent resting at home or playing computer games. Not this year. Armed with my Canon Powershot G7, I decided to check out the parade and see what the buzz is about.

Unfortunately, this is where the limitations of my prosumer camera became glaringly obvious. The build-in flash unit is simply not suited for such occasions, and I had great difficulty getting the right exposure for the shots. The aperture was not wide enough and did not allow the effects that I needed. Switching to a higher ISO mode caused too much noise to appear and thus affected picture quality. In the end, I decided to switch to movie mode and captured short clips of the parade.

Walking along the walkway of the Esplanade, amidst the noise of the distant fireworks, I took a quick photo of the night landscape of our CBD area, and ended the night out of Chingay Parade 2008.

Hi Cynthia! Nice of you to drop by. I am still around, don’t worry
I have been to my favourite eating place quite often – Gado Gado Boplo eating (what else?) Gado Gado! Someone actually commented that I am getting comfortable in Jakarta and might one day forget Singapore. Fat chance of that happening, since my wife will kill me first
