It was supposed to be a routine getting from home in the early morning to the airport, and back to Jakarta, but somehow with a combination of events that unfolded, it was not meant to be. First of all, my sore throat had gotten worse and it felt like the beginnings of a flu attack. I was not in particularly good shape (or mood for that matter), but I had to drag myself out of bed at 6am in the morning and proceed to the airport.

Just before the turn from ECP to the airport, the taxi driver was speeding on the third lane, when the line of vehicles in front of us made hard brakes. The red lights came on, my driver tried to brake, he swerved to the left, but not enough and bam! the front right lights hit the rear left of the car in front. I could only watch speechless, as the taxi driver apologized and went about the usual business of resolving the issue with the other driver. Luckily, there were no other vehicles on the side and no one was hurt in the minor accident. The two drivers exchanged numbers, identification and went about their separate ways. I was back on track towards the journey to Jakarta.

The day went on and by the end of the day, my sore throat had mutated into a full-blown cold. I was popping pills and went down to the pharmacy to get some vitamins and more flu pills. Extremely tired and ill, work still had to be done. I was glad when I was able to return to the apartment and finally snuck up in bed for the night’s rest.
