My favorite web browser, Mozilla Firefox, has quite a number of Add-ons that are simply fabulous and best of all, absolutely free. Some of my frequently used ones include the del.icio.us addon that allows me to bookmark sites that I come across (of course IE has its own version of this), FireFTP for transferring files, Free Download Manager, Veoh Browser Plug-in and Video Downloader for downloading videos from YouTube, Google, Metacafe…etc.
The latest one (which is not really a new thing) that I have installed is StumbleUpon. The idea is that you can channel surf the internet (with the StumbleUpon toolbar) to find great websites, videos, photos and more based on your interests. StumbleUpon learns what you like and makes better recommendations. Or, for my case, I just like to randomly discover new sites through this tool.
For example, I stumbled across Musicovery, which is really a neat way to listen to radio. Kind of a novelty, but I like the fact that the interface allows you to select music based on your mood. Another cool music site I discovered from StumbleUpon is Finetine. I thought Wilfrid might be interested in some of these sites related to music.
I discovered the view on top of the Eiffel Tower. There are many breathtaking panoramic views of various famous tourist spots all over the world at Panoramas.dk.
A random view on the available videos on the Net found me a video on YouTube showing how Mona Lisa can be painted using MS Paint. Don’t know why anybody would want to do that, but it is interesting nonetheless. This BBC Motion Gallery video is also pretty good.
Then there are the discovery of new products. MILK is a funny table top. All white. I wonder how it will look in my dining room.
It is quite fascinating, really. Surprise yourself, stumble upon something today.
