The old market and hawker in Chinatown Complex has been moved to the temporary market near Outram MRT station. It is pretty near to my office, and right between my client’s office and mine. Before the market was closed, I seldom go there for food, although the place was supposed to house some tasty good food. In the past week, I had lunches at this temporary market no less than 3 days in a row and a couple of coffee breaks as well.
One of the famous stalls seems to be this Yong Tau Fu stall where the queue starts from 6am all the way pass lunch hour. The standard order comes with a bowl of noodles and a bowl of mixed items such as beancurd and fish cakes. Well, it’s probably a matter of taste, I thought it was delicious but I will probably not queue up again for it.
This afternoon, my client wanted to have porridge with peanut and cuttlefish in it, plus a sidedish of raw fish slices, and he wanted the $5 plate for the fish slices. Since he seemed to enjoy it a lot, I decide to try it myself and ordered the same dishes. The fish slices come in a plate filled with ginger slices, some cut chilli padi, vegetables and lime. For $5, it is well worth it, as I found the fish fresh and tasty. Not quite the same as Japanese sashimi, but delicious nonetheless. While I was there, I noticed a couple of stalls selling fish head with hot sauce. Perhaps I shall try that one of these days. Yummy.

Take me there next time we meet kay? I love fish. $5 is steep but it is nothing you can’t afford
Thanks in advance!
