I stumbled across this very interesting site today, via one of the EDMs I am subscribed to. Immediate thoughts that came to mind was, “Oh #@*$ Microsoft is buying Firefox!”. On closer inspection, the astute observer will come to realise that it is yet another very well done parody of how Microsoft came about IE7 – taking what is already there, ripping off people and screwing up the browser. Funny stuff.

And for what it’s worth, IE7 is screwing up my life right now, because I find myself constantly struggling to keep a copy of IE6, so that my websites can still be checked for backwards compatibility. Lucky for me, I have a copy of VMWare and I keep a copy of the older browser on Windows 2000 Professional installed on the virtual machine.

Hmmm … I happen to really like the new IE7. For non-teckie like me, it is very user friendly. Tabbing is fun and since I reset all the preference to non-MS based product (such as default search engine and so on), IE7 works fine. Right now, I use Google toolbar to organise my bookmark, popup filter, and so on … really joyful these days to surf with IE7. I have tried others such as Firefox or Opera in the past. Never quite like it. Not sure why.

That is right. Microsoft has taken what is out there and enchance upon it. Same as Blizzard that takes what is out there in terms of Real Time Strategy games and created the classic games such as Starcraft and Warcraft (both games are never known as original or ground breaking).

I guess there are many paths to success?

PS. I can relate to your pain. If I was to keep an older version of IE6 for testing, I really wouldn’t know how to go about.
