This evening marked the wedding of an ex-colleague and friend, DT and his wife Eileen. It was held at the Mandarin Orchard hotel, and thus I had to make the trip from the west to the central part of the island. The heavy rain did not help matters, as my clothes were slightly wet from the walk. As expected, most of the guests had yet to arrive, due to the traffic and heavy downpour.
After the customary congratulations to the wedding couple, the guestbook signing and handing over the gifts to the receptionist, I took my seat and was pleasantly surprised that DT had invited not less than 30 of my ex-colleagues from the company where we both used to work. Both Kenny and myself thought it amazing that he had managed to keep in touch with so many people who have since left the old company for years, and the more amazing part was that people turned up for the dinner. We all know how it is very possible that some invited guests might decide not to turn up at the very last minute, especially on a weeknight and under the poor weather conditions.
Apart from the celebrations, it was a very nice little gathering of ex-colleagues, some of whom we have not met for ages.
