It is always interesting to meet up with old friends, ex-colleagues or aquaintances, if anything just to find out what you’ve been missing out on outside your own little world. Today, I met up with 2 ex-colleagues for lunch. One of them had a job opportunity for me (basically to take over his job, as he is moving on to greener pastures). The other just wanted to meet up and chit-chat. The good thing was that I got free transport by my friend out of my client’s office (which is like tucked away in the far reaches of netherland), and he later gave me a ride back as well. We had lunch at Ghim Moh hawker center, because we’re all poor folks with hardly any spare cash to splash.
Actually the interesting part is not meeting up with the ex-colleagues. Rather, it is what other information you dig up from the ex-colleagues about other ex-colleagues. It was interesting to find out the reasons why person left their old jobs, for instance, and how the dynamics of the workplace had not changed at all.

It happened again today! I went to the HR company that I am using for HR services, and bumped into an ex-colleague again. He is the dark-skinned, fat (now fatter still) guy with the speech ability that not may can understand – Ghim Sia… He explained that he was using the same HR company, and this is his last day of work with Nokia as the Solutions Architect or something. Anyway… what a small world. And Helen the bikini chick said that Sock Hoon came to her shop and asked her a load of weird stuff… funny how the world resolves around.
