It was about a month ago that I posted a blog about my friend’s wedding dinner, griping about the lack of beautiful women, and the costs. Back then, little did I know what was to come a little over a month later, today. There was no way to know as well that would be the last time I will ever see and talk to my friend again, ever.
This afternoon, I received news via SMS from another army friend that the guy who just got married had met with an accident while holidaying in New Zealand. He had passed away. A quick confirmation with another friend verified that this was true. We were all stunned. It was hard to imagine something that you would expect to happen only in the movies, to be so close and affect the lives of people you know.
Those who could not make it to the wedding dinner were especially regretful, because they had promised to celebrate with the friend when he comes back. Now I know I am the lucky one. I had celebrated and shared the joyous occasion with my dear friend when I had the chance. In this unpredictable life, I suppose we always need a constant reminder to take a look from a different perspective, of what truly matters in the end. If only the reminders are not so costly at times :_(
